un 2 00 3 On contributions of fundamental particles to the vacuum energy

چکیده
Recently different regularization schemes for calculations of the vacuum energy stored in the zero-point motion of fundamental fields were discussed. We show that the contribution of the fermionic and bosonic fields to the energy of the vacuum depends on the physical realization of the vacuum state. The energy density of the homogeneous equilibrium vacuum is zero irrespective of the fermionic and bosonic content of the effective theories in the infra-red corner. The contribution of the low-energy fermions and bosons becomes important when the coexistence of different vacua is considered, such as the bubble of the true vacuum inside the false one. We consider the case when these vacua differ only by the masses of the low-energy fermionic fields, M true > M false , while their ultraviolet structure is identical. In this geometry the energy density of the false vacuum outside the bubble is zero, ρ false = −P false = 0, which corresponds to zero cosmological constant. The energy density of the true vacuum inside the bubble is ρ true = −P true ∝ −Λ 2 (M 2 true − M 2 false), where Λ is the ultraviolet cutoff .

Comment on contributions of fundamental particles to the vacuum energy
This is the comment to the preprints by G. Ossola and A. Sirlin, hep-ph/0305050, and E.Kh. We show that the contribution of the fermionic and bosonic fields to the energy of the vacuum depends on the physical realization of the vac...

In this paper, we investigate cosmological particle production using quantum field theory (QFT). We will consider how production of scalar particles can occur in an expanding universe. By introducing a time-dependent energy parameter representing the time evolution of the universe, the initial vacuum state will be excited. Consequently, creation of particles is present. Here, our focus is mainl...
متن کاملConsiderations Concerning the Contributions of Fundamental Particles to the Vacuum Energy Density
The covariant regularization of the contributions of fundamental particles to the vacuum energy density is implemented in the Pauli-Villars, dimensional regularization, and Feynman regulator frameworks. Rules of correspondence between dimensional regularization and cutoff calculations are discussed. Invoking the scale invariance of free field theories in the massless limit, as well as consisten...

The study of lowest eigenmodes of the covariant Laplacian in fundamental representation of the gauge group revealed their specific localization properties. These may bear information on confinement of fundamental scalar particles in SU(2) Yang–Mills vacuum. It was expected that scalar particle eigenmodes in other representations would be localized in different physical volumes. However simulati...

In the present study, effect of interfacial roughness on the ion implanted Tantalum based surfaces has been investigated. The argon ions with energy of 30 keV and in doses of 1×1017 , 3×1017 , 5×1017 , 7×1017 , and 10×1017 (ion/cm2) have been used at ambient temperature. The Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), analysis have been used to study and characterize the surfaces morphology. The effect of ...
